Although computer graphics are intuitively appealing, research has not supported their superiority over tabular displays in all instances. In general, graphs are best for making rather simple analyses, and certain types of grphs are better than others, depending on the task.
The behavioral influences that can affect a computer project or an operational system are an example of human factors considerations. The underlying factor is fear on the part of employees and managers that the computer will affect them in an adverse way. Management and
information specialists can minimize the fear factor by using the computer to enhance jobs, by keeping lines of communication open, by creating an atmosphere of trust, and by building systems that are competable with employees' needs.
